RE: The Widow Lincoln
Looks like C-Span's American History TV will be showing an interview with the playwright and lead actress of "The Widow Lincoln" this weekend.

RE: The Widow Lincoln
One of the Surratt volunteers saw this production at Ford's on Saturday and loved it.

If you miss the program on TV (or your cable doesn't carry the right C-Span channel), you can always watch the replay on cspan.org.

RE: The Widow Lincoln
Welcome, Mr. Still. Several of our workers at Surratt House Museum have seen the play at Ford's and loved it - and they can be a tough audience.

RE: The Widow Lincoln
Welcome to the forum Mr. Still. Thank you for making Mary Lincoln the focus of the assassination story in your play. I watched the interview on C-Span's American History TV and appreciated your remarks on how you came to that decision.
I'm not able to see the play as I live in CA but I mentioned on an earlier post that I hoped the play might be filmed and sold on DVD. If not, perhaps you can bring it West. |

RE: The Widow Lincoln
I'm not sure why this is posted under The Widow Lincoln. If it is the same play that was at Ford's a number of years ago, The Heavens Are Hung in Black is not about the assassination. It is rather a political play (and a long one) about Lincoln's plights in 1862 with the Union army slow to make progress and the pressures bearing upon him by abolitionists to take a stand on the slavery issue.
Here's the review from the Washington Post at that time: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...03647.html |
