Laurie+BettyO-I don't like to use this term, but,I think that the Alexander Gardner photo called"All is Done"shows Dr.Mary Walker on her horse at the execution of the Conspirators.Maybe she has been"hiding in plain sight"all of these years! Please correct me if I am wrong.

Herb - is this her? I see what looks like a lady in a Bloomer type costume....but I don't see a horse within the courtyard. I also didn't see a horse in any of the other sequence of execution photos....

That's the figure that John and Barry enlarged and determined that it was a man. I think they found that the officer was wearing his sword and that the belt of that was cinching in his waist and making the coat "bloomer" out.

Whoever that lone person is, he/she certainly seems to be drawing the attention of quite a few of the others standing around. Everyone's back is pretty much turned away from the scaffold and focused on that person or something in that general area. It almost appears that the person is kneeling in prayer.

Laurie, that is an interesting and thought provoking observation.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

RE: The Guest-At the trial and hanging of the Lincoln conspirators
Herb I honestly don't believe that is Dr. Walker. Here are the images of the execution that show the area in which the form is:

1. Empty Scaffold
[Image: blur-1-empty-scaffold.jpg]

2. Arrival on the Scaffold
[Image: blur-2-arrival-on-the-scaffold.jpg]

3. Reading the Death Warrant
[Image: blur-3-reading-the-death-warrant.jpg]

5. Adjusting the Ropes
[Image: blur-5-adjusting-the-ropes.jpg]

7. All is Done (1)

In some of the images it is clear there are two men standing in the corner, while in others all there is is this blurred figure who appears to be walking. I very much doubt it is Dr. Walker. I can still email you high res .tiff files of the execution if you would like. Just let me know.
