RE: Test
Problems are now cropping up again unfortunately. I am sorry, but the same issue that the forum experienced over the weekend has begun again.

It is now 5:55 AM in downtown Richmond, VA and seems to be working OK - at least for now....

Scott, just in case (hopefully not to happen again!!!) this is how posting worked for me when these difficulties occured :
Whomever the main index welcomes or not, go on the page where you want to post. Then log on. Even if the site still shows you as a guest, go on "reply", and you should be able to do (the "quick reply" option will not show up though!). Submit your reply and WAIT - it sometimes took an hour till my posts showed up, but they did. Better log out, even if you are still shown as a guest. I once didn't and "suddenly" found me online when loading the forum later again.
I sure hope we won't need these tips anymore...

RE: Test
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our "testing" is over with! I have been on sick leave for two days, and there has been nothing more infuriating than not being able to access this wonderful forum whenever I wanted to. I have also been privy to what Roger has been going through in order to get everything straightened out with the hosting server, who pulled a surprise "fine print" tactic on him. We owe Roger a great round of applause for sticking this out and working for over four days to clear up the problems.

I've been struggling for some time. Keep getting an error message, and then when I finally got a new password and logged in I was only let in as a guest. Then it righted itself.

May I ask why on earth we have to have a password that is 25 characters long?

RE: Test
Maddie, this is because so many spammers have tried to join the forum that I have found requiring a longer password cuts way back on my workload.

However, members who write me and request a shorter password are always welcome, and I can easily do this for folks. I suggest people not try to change their passwords other than through me. The forum-generated passwords are too long.

The host server problems that began Saturday, and have made the forum operate erratically ever since, have begun again today.

I'm still on as a guest after signing in. This is a test.

RE: Test
I am still having trouble with the site this morning. I know there is very little Roger can do about it so I have decided to make sort of a game of it. I have been keeping track of all the people I seem to be when I get on the site. So far I have been a guest, Toia, Susan H., Roger N., Betty O., Gene C., and Paige B. It's like when I was kid opening a pack of baseball cards and excited to see who I would get! I'm crossing my fingers that I might be Laurie V. when I next get on the site!!

RE: Test
I like your game, Scott. Yesterday I was briefly James McPherson!

(Seriously and unfortunately the problems continue as cached pages, not "live" pages, are often being displayed. This will continue until the problems the host server is having are solved - hopefully sometime in 2014.)
