"Old" Lincon movie found
BettyO made a post earlier with a link from this web site. While looking it over I found this interesting article and film clip

http://railsplitter.com/?page_id=3611 - film clip

http://railsplitter.com/?page_id=3491 - article

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

RE: "Old" Lincon movie found
Wow! Great going, Gene! I have wanted to see this film for ages!

I have the book The Dramatic Life of Abraham Lincoln by Anna M. Wright, which was based on the movie - and here are movie stills from the book:

Love this still of the conspirators meeting in Mrs. Surratt's Cellar!

The Photoplay version (which I have a hardback of) is available here - but this looks like a different "Lincoln" than that in the film - this is a Mr. Billings and I think the man in the online film is a Mr. McGinnis?

Gene: that is a fascinating movie clip- if nothing else but for it's value as an old film. It was fun noticing all of the errors as portrayed in the film. For instance, General Grant did not wear an officer's frock coat at the surrender.

Interesting post! I found a little information on the actor who played Lincoln. His name was George Billings. Apparently he made a career in the old silent movies starring as Lincoln. He sure did look like him! Here is the link.

Betty, I like the photo of the conspirators in the basement as well. Is that supposed to be Booth with the top hat? At first I thought Snidely Whiplash had been an unknown conspirator! Smile

That's hysterical! JWB DOES look like Snydley Whiplash in this one! One can almost see him twirling his moustache and saying, "Ya-heh-heh!" Big Grin

Lew Powell looks like a college kid, and Mrs. Surratt looks really concerned. Maybe she's afraid he'll tie her to a railroad track! The rest of the guys look really strange, too!

Oh I know! Wasn't Snidley on Underdog? Or was it the Rocky and Bullwinkle AKA Dudley Do-Right show? Now I'm really dating myself! Cool

Oh, those cartoons just made me think of another series about Lincoln and other characters in some high school setting. Can't find it in my files - does it sound familiar to anyone?

I think that was "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure?" Or something like that? I know that they had the Lincoln Assassination on "Family Guy...."

Ah, that was hilarious - but no, it was a cartoon and it had a lot of historical characters in it. I'll look for it!

It was "Clone High" - but it only ran for one season.
