The Rivalry
Thank you to Bob Cook for sending this information:
Written by Norman Corwin Academy Award-nominees Paul Giamatti and David Strathairn star in Norman Corwin’s electrifying dramatization of the history-making Lincoln-Douglas debates. This fierce rivalry between rising legislator Abraham Lincoln and incumbent Senator Stephen A. Douglas tackled some of the day’s most passionate and controversial issues – above all those of slavery and the American concept of freedom. As seen through the eyes of Douglas’ young wife Adele, the play illuminates two of the most charismatic politicians of any era. https://store.latw.org/plays/the-rivalry/ |

RE: The Rivalry
Boy, I hope they don't portray the pre-presidential Abraham Lincoln sporting a beard.

I guess they think the general public is so in tune with Lincoln having a beard they thought they better put a bearded picture of the actor on the flyer so no one got confused. Seems more confusing to me. Marketing does what marketing does. |

RE: The Rivalry
Agree! Not to mention that the actor's beard seen too gray to favor Lincoln's hair.

RE: The Rivalry
I just found out that the play (or a version of it) has been around for a while, and Richard Boone (of Have Gune Will Travel) was in it back in the 1950's on Broadway according to this. Has anyone seen this video or the play?
http://otrdvd.co/index.php?route=product...uct_id=951 So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
