The People in King George in 1865 are interesting
I have been relaxing by researching Crismond - you know -the one who helped Booth.
!. He worked for Dr. Stuart. He was the overseer on one of Stuart's Plantations - Panarama. 2 His sister worked in the household of of Charles Mason. He was a State Senator, and a VIP in the Confederacy's Secret Service. Mason was married to Thomas Jefferson's granddaughter - Marie Randolph. The area they lived in was, and still is, called Edge Hill, which was the name of the Plantation she grew up on in Albemarle Co. 3. Crismond was a member of the 15th VA Cav, stationed at home to help escort the abducted Lincoln. 4. Crismond -McDaniel - Thomas A Jones were all closely related. 5. All these King George names were here in 1720, when the County was formed and these names still appear in the phone book. This sort of explains it was Crismond was called upon to move Booth and Bryant came along provided the horses and bring them home. |

Jones married Jane Frances Harbin. The others are all in the same Family Tree. I have to plot that out to determine the exact relationship. Just "Cousins", is not close enough. The ones in KG, all went to the same church, even their address was the same "Hanover Baptist Parish", or" St. Paul's Parish" (Episcopal). Notice in the Census, everyone seems to live in "Chotank Twp" - Edge Hill P.O. (That would be my address, if we didn't get house numbers within the last 5 years. PS Hampstead Twp, is exactly the same area (They changed the P.O. name.) |
