Deposition of H. W. Smith
In her book on Mary Surratt, Elizabeth Trindall references a deposition by Major H. W. Smith found in M-599 (no reel number given). I have Edwards' and Steers' transcription of M-599, and the deposition isn't in there (unless I'm overlooking something). I searched "Smith" on the Fold 3 site, which offers M-599 for free, and didn't come up with anything, although admittedly I had some difficulty searching the site. Does anyone have access to the deposition, or know where on M-599 or elsewhere it can be located? Thanks.

Perhaps Trindal was referring to Smith's statement from the reward applications. You can read most of that for free here:
