I thought it was well done. Mr. Day-Lewis' accent took me by surprise-wasn't expecting it.

I thought that Doris Kearns Goodwin was very good on that segment also. She was more animated than usual. Since I have not yet seen the movie, however, the glimpse of what I guess is the ending was kinda weird. Lincoln appears to be walking into a black metal spider web?? What the heck was that supposed to represent? You can explain it to me - I already know what happens in the end. He dies...

Many have thought that the movie should have ended with that scene Laurie. Not sure what the backdrop was supposed to be.

It sure didn't look like anything that was ever in the White House. It looked more like the ribbing of the U.S. Botanical Gardens on Capitol Hill...

I had three people today tell me how impressed they were with the segment-and none of them had seen the movie!

I saw the segment, too.
But did I hear Lesley Stahl correctly, when she referred to the death of the second Lincoln child, Willie? If so, she was mistaken, since Eddie was the second child. Willie would have been the second child who died, but I don't think that was how she meant it. Did anyone else hear it the same way I did? |

I hope the interview keeps the momentum going on this movie. Daniel Day Lewis deserves the best actor (not that I have seen any of the other films with best actor nominations). I liked Steven Spielberg's comment about first time he's worn a suit.
