It allows visitors to tour- very nice. I have taken the tour in previous visits, but we ran out of time to do so this time!
Great pictures Bill, even if your camera didn't improve my appearance any. Smile

Thanks Rob! Smile
Great pic's Bill. Makes me want to go back again next year.

Gene,

I am already looking forward to it. Let me know when you get any responses. Thanks!.

Joe
Donna and I plan on making the trip again. It was really a lot of fun- and great to be with others who enjoy Lincoln. We would be thrilled to be joined by others!
I sooo want to join you folks. The Springfield/Lincoln Tour has been on my bucket list since I was a child. Last October I was in my beautiful home state of Ohio in the early part of the month to say goodbye to one of my cousins who was dying. I could easily have hopped over to Springfield from Columbus on my journey back to Los Angeles...only I didn't know about any of this then. What fun it would have been, and it would definitely have lifted my spirits after what I experienced at my poor cousin's deathbed.

I am going to try very hard to make it this Fall!
That would be great! Hope you can make it. We will post more info as the time draws nearer.
I'm looking forward to touring Lincoln's home again. For me, that is always the highlight. When we went in October 2013, it was closed.
There is so much to see in the Springfield area, that you just can't see it all in the 2 1/2 days (Fri & Sat) we will be there on
Oct 9, 10 & 11. If you would like to come, and there is something you want to see, let us know so we can schedule it in.

Two places last year we didn't go to, The Lincoln Home (closed to gov't shut down) and the Lincoln - Herndon Law Office (ran out of time)
will be on the schedule this year.

See for your self the exciting Lincoln family "what-not" and the decorative wall paper.

That and a whole lot more!
Gene, there is so much to see! I don't think we should choose to not go to the tomb again- even though we went last year. Not sure what you and others think.
Thanks for posting the Lincolns' whatnot shelves. I am absolutely amazed, however, to see books stacked on them. I suspect the books are fake, light-weight ones. Those shelves are almost identical to the etagere at Surratt House, and ours would not hold a significant amount of weight - especially stacked weight on the center of each shelf (weakest point).
