Ida Tarbell and John Wilkes Booth
Just received word from my contact in Pennsylvania that the remainder of Ida Tarbell's Lincoln material was uploaded to their website today. Included in this is material which Tarbell wrote on John Wilkes Booth. Her article on Booth's oil speculation was one of the last articles she tried to publish before her death. It was rejected by a number of publications including the New York Times.
Here is the link to Tarbell's material on Booth. Oh, and now that all the material on Lincoln is available, you likely won't see me on here for a few months. Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
I want the respect of intelligent men, but I will choose for myself the intelligent. --Carl Sandburg

Glald for you Rob, sorry for us. Are you and your wife going to the quilt show in Paducah this year? Keep in touch.
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Ida Tarbell and John Wilkes Booth
Good luck, Rob!
I started looking at a few of the letters and noticed a 1941 letter from George S. Bryan to Ida in which he complains about Pitman in comparison to Poore. Now where have I heard that one before! |
