Close enough, Laurie. It was $2.88 according to Lincoln Day By Day.
Online the answer is here. Since no one got it exactly everyone who guessed will receive a free win ticket on Old Bob in the Belmont Stakes. Abraham Lincoln with Old Bob

That's $87.27 in today's dollars. Apparently Springfield mechanics were also honest.

Looks like Mr. Lincoln got an especially good deal, Eva. Of course the best carriage deal he got was the free dark green monogrammed carriage he got from a group of New York merchants just before his second inaugural -- the one he road to Ford's Theatre. It had solid silver lamps, door handles and hubcaps, and the steps were connected to the doors so they would drop when the doors opened and rise when the doors were closed. A very sweet ride.

Early in the war, Jefferson Davis received a unique gift from someone in France that eventually found its way to the U.S. White House under the Presidency of Andrew Johnson. What was this gift?

Davis investigated the use of camels for the army, so I'll guess a camel.

Sorry, Joe, camel is not correct. Again, think of a drink and then (hint #2) an inanimate object related to that drink.

RE: Trivial Trivia - taking trivia to new levels
That is certainly the logical answer, but it is incorrect. If no one guesses by 2 pm, I will post the answer because it has a great story behind it - and the object is unusual.

50% correct, so far, Roger. It is related to tea, but is not exactly a "set."
