RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Good tries, Eva and Bill, but Gene seems to be a true Chester A. Arthur expert. More information is here:

http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/presidents/...house.html

Nowadays Kalustyan's deli and restaurant occupy the first two floors of the building. Gene, you win a free one-minute shopping spree in Kalustyan's deli.

Hint #1: It surprised me to learn he was still living.

Hint #1.5: The answer is not a U.S. President, but I thought this category was still the best for this person.

Harrison Tyler, grandson of John Tyler. I'm surprised too that he's still living. http://mentalfloss.com/article/29842/pre...till-alive

Excellent, Anita! And you already posted the link where I initially read this fact. John Tyler was President from 1841-1845, and he has two grandsons still living. I was amazed.

You win very best wishes for a wonderful weekend.

I cheated too. I was disappointed but not surprized to read there have been attempts to destroy it.

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Finally, a clue that convinced me where the statue is!! I could guess that it had to be Greece because of the Truman Doctrine, but wasn't sure. Hooty the Owl did nothing for me until you posted the Euro (and I remembered my Greek alphabet from sororities and fraternities).

My answer is Greece, and probably Athens?

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Very good thinking, Laurie. You are correct! The owl is a symbol of wisdom and a symbol of the city of Athens in ancient Greece - capital of "wisdom" (philosophy, science and arts) in those days.

"Many Greek Americans revere Truman for his aid to Greece during his presidency. Legislation adopted during the Truman administration allowed 10,000 refugees of a civil war in Greece to enter the United States, bringing a second wave of Greek immigrants to this area in the 1950s.

Also, it was Truman, during the early years of the Cold War, who through financial aid ensured Greece did not become a communist nation."

How about a prize of a statue of Harry Truman for your yard?
