Sorry, Fido, but the cats always seem so fascinated with Abraham Lincoln. Alright Roger, how did you do that? That is such an adorable picture! Bill Nash |

Bill, I found it using Google Images. To be fair, I also like this one. Maybe Gene knows something about it.

RE: The value of pets in the Civil War
Agreed, Herb. Although I've read descriptions that seem to indicate Lincoln preferred cats over dogs I do not believe I have seen a legitimate Lincoln quote where he himself divulges a preference.

I think that might have been taken by the great spiritual photographer, William Mumler. Evidently the cosmic forces were a little stronger that day than they were when he took his more famous photo of Abraham and Mary (hence the clearer picture) But don't quote me on that. http://rogerjnorton.com/Lincoln44.html So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: The value of pets in the Civil War
Cats are different from dogs in they are wierd, and I named my cat Judd after Judd Nelson in"Breakfast-Club".I inherited my black-Lab from my daughter, and she[Phoebe]was very loving! I think that Lincoln had Fido because dogs[Fido] were more popular to have.
