William Henry Harrison McCall
I am always interested in the people that were part of the whole assassination/trial/execution and what became of them later in life. Brevet Brigadier General McCall who was on Hartranfts staff was assigned to watch over the prisoners and attended the execution. He later move to Prescott, Arizona. The 1880 census lists him as living at 51 Montezuma St with his wife Mary. His occupation was miner. On the next line of the census living at 52 Montezuma is a dentist by the name of J.H. Holliday. Yep, "Doc" Holliday was his neighbor.

Doc Holliday trivia- often described as a ruthless killer and criminal, his girlfriend "Big Nose Kate" said after the shootout at the O.K. Corral, he came back to their room, sat on the edge of the bed and cried, stating-"That was awful, just awful".

The only thing about Doc Holliday that I know is that Gene Barry played him on television when I was a teenager... What I just have to know more about is "Big Nose Kate!"

She went by several names, but I believe the one she used most is Kate Elder. It's easy to find info on her on several Old West sites. I believe she lived a long life and made a lot of money through prostitution.

Doc Holliday is buried in a cemetery in the western Colorado town of Glenwood Spring, which is along the Colorado River.

Excuse me. The name of the town where Doc Holliday is buried is called "Glenwood Springs."

Did you know that Holliday's cousin by marriage was GWTW author, Margaret Mitchell?

RE: William Henry Harrison McCall
You are correct RogerM. I lived out there 30 years ago and at that time the only way to get to the small cemetery at the top of the hill was walking up a rutted dirt path. There was a marker but they were not sure just exactly where in the cemetery he was.

Oops, I think Gene Barry played Bat Masterson.

Gene Barry is remembered very much, as I uesed to watch that show when it first aired. But really I prefer Vil Kilmer for actors portraying Doc Holiday. Goota love that scene in the movie Tombstone where he is spinning his cup with his finger instead of a pistol in front of the gunslinger.

Yeah, firing a shotgun at someone from short range can spoil your whole day. Thank God for laudanum.

RE: William Henry Harrison McCall
Yeah, it was kind of a strong response, but the Clanton's and McLaury's asked for it.........
