They are now working on a film about the tremendous struggles of one young veteran and his wife as they overcome his losing portions of both legs and both arms in our current wars. Most of the scenes will tear your heart out.

Laurie, you said that extemely well - "Birthday" is a very powerful 12 minute short film. Here is a note from Chris and Heather:

Hello friends of Watermark Films,
Heather and I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving weekend.
Happy to say that we did, and the Christmas decorations are already up, thanks to our pushy/eager kids. Smile

As "Birthday" is all but finished, we are now in the process of applying to film festivals across the world.
Since we feel that "Birthday" will have such a broad appeal to festival programmers because of its sweet themes of courage, strength, determination and love, we'll be applying to four times as many film festivals as we normally do.

We typically finance these film festival submissions ourselves, but since we're wanting to get the message of "Birthday" out to so many festivals this time, the cost of this will be much more than we can take on ourselves.

So we're putting out the word for help to those who'd like to support "Birthday" and its festival run.
Please let us know if you would like to be a Executive Producer, or Producer for "Birthday" at the respective contribution amounts below.

(Or if you'd like to be a SENIOR EXECUTIVE PRODUCER and have your own animated logo at the beginning of the film, that option is available too):

$4000 Senior Executive Producer
(25 DVD copies of film, credit in the film, framed & signed poster of film by Actors and Director, your own animated logo at beginning of film, and IMDB listing, your name on the Poster and DVD)

$2000 Executive Producer
(10 DVD copies of film, credit in the film, signed poster of film by Actors and Director, a special Thank You in the film, and IMDB listing)

$1000 Producer
(5 DVD copies of film, Producer credit in the film, a special Thank You in the film, and IMDB listing)

Thank you for your interest and support of this very special short film project which we look forward to sharing with the world this coming year.
Happy Holiday to you and yours!

RE: The real heroes
Please watch this video. It's all about love and good, old-fashioned, American spirit. It doesn't seem possible that two years have passed since Chris and Heather introduced us to this project.

RE: The real heroes
It's very touching and also reminds me of how incredible it seems nowadays that so many soldiers who shared this fate during the CW not only survived (regarding there was no surgery in sterile conditions nor anaesthetics, just morphine to kill the pains), but also recovered speedily and even were able to live an independent life afterwards - just think of James Tanner.

Eva-Morphine was the drug of the day,and many soldiers got hooked on it after the war!

RE: The real heroes
I just received an update from Chris King. Chris writes:

Hello Friends and Family,

Just wanted to pass along to you that the interview I moderated with Robert Duvall in Washington D.C. was finally edited and put on Vimeo...in case you'd like to watch it.

Last May I was asked by the Washington West Film Festival folks if I would come to Robert Duvall's home in Virginia to show our short film "Birthday" (about a severely wounded Marine and his wife) because Robert and his wife are big supporters of their film festival and of our veterans - and apparently he loved our short film.

Surprisingly, he and I just chatted away about our films for quite some time at this event and apparently I made some sort of impression because he asked the film festival if I would be the moderator at his life/film retrospective in Washington D.C. in October. It was a complete surprise to me and a huge honor and a total blast.

So here is our time together talking about his amazing and legendary career, complete with Robert's wonderful sense of humor. Hope you enjoy watching it, and thank you once again for you support of this passion project called "Birthday" that is still playing around the world. Smile
