Linda, that is a definite possibility, Henry Ulke was Heinrich before he Americanized it. Betty, you are right. As you know not all their records are in the computer. The ones in the leather books (Holmeade reinterrments) have not been included.

Ureka! At least for me. Its not like I discovered a pirate ship laden with dubloons but I am excited. Thanks to the info from Roger and Linda I called Rock Creek to confirm that Julius Ulke is buried there. He is in Section I (Betty discovered Powell in Section K, right next door), Lot 136, site 6. Also buried with him is Julius d. 1944, Helena d. 1916 and Elsa d. 1901. Possibly a wife and children or two wives and a son.

If they put him on display like Son of Sam or Ted Bundy, then yes - it would be disrespectful!
Nonetheless, it might still get someone to take further interest in Lewis and perhaps research him online after they get home, upon which they will discover all the great things you have written about him and reconsider everything they'd heard on the tour.....

But I do think that any kind of extensive exposure could help Lewis. If he remains a footnote (and a bad one at that), no one will care enough to take a closer look.
For every negative, biased ghost tour about Lewis, there might be a few people who come away interested and won't let it rest at that. It really is better than the current sweep under the rug he's been getting.

I didn't find the article or the tour disrespectful. If they had held a seance at the graveyard, that would have upset me! Graveyard tours have been very popular in the D.C. area for a number of years and are held throughout the year.

Edgar Allan Poe used to get lots of attention in October until a few years ago. On the anniversary of his death for over fifty years, an anonymous person would quietly sneak into his burial site at Westminster Hall and Burying Ground in Baltimore and leave a half-full bottle of cognac and three roses.

It got to the point where crowds would gather to see if they could spot the person who became known as Poe's Toaster. Several people over the years claimed to be the Toaster, but I don't think anyone was definitely proven to be him. The tradition appears to have stopped in 2010, and people have said that 2009 would have been an anniversary year and a good time to end the practice.

People do odd things. But I guess as Natty said, all publicity is good publicity. They might have given your book a mention though.
