Betty - Thank you so much for bringing this 30-year-old article back to see the light of day because it succinctly gives you the gist of Come Retribution without having to struggle through the book - which tends to be very detailed (on matters that some of us know little about). And yet, many readers thought that, for the first time, the scenario behind the assassination finally made sense.

I am not at liberty to discuss details, but hopefully there is another book coming out on the subject of Booth's Confederate connections (including money trails) within the year. From the portions that I have been privy to, it also will be a step-by-step, easy to understand narrative.

I'm sorry, but it has always made good sense to me to consider that Booth had backers in high places, and people who knew military angles in order to achieve their purpose.

That sounds like it's going to be a good one!

I agree, Laurie! I was more than glad to find this old article. A lot of it is to be found in Tidwell's April 14, 1865 as well....

Can't wait to see the NEW book you mentioned - sounds great!
