Not a doctor, Eva.
Hint #1: He was once charged with fraud, but he was acquitted in court. |

Hint #2: Mrs. Tundall visited this man.
(some sources spell the name "Tundall" differently) |

RE: Who is this person?
Brilliant, Eva! That is William Mumler, a spirit photographer. Perhaps his most famous image is:
You win one free séance conducted by none other than Lord Colchester (see if you can figure out where the sounds are coming from). Through Lord Colchester you will be able to communicate with any single person from history. Enjoy, Eva! The image of Mumler is from Harper's Weekly. http://rorotoko.com/interview/20090227_k...er/?page=3 |

RE: Who is this person?
Who is the person who wrote this description of Mary Owens?
"I knew Miss Owens always — my cousin. Knew her in Ill. about 1834 or 6. Knew her from a child in Kentucky. She was about 28 when in Ill. Black eyes — medium sized, about 5/5 feet or 5/6 Black hair, weighed about 150. Symmetrical face with roundish features, unusually fresh. Good natured — excellent disposition. She was a very intellectual woman, well educated and well raised — Free and social — Beautiful even teeth. She was gay and lively, mirthfulness prominent. Her mind was better cultivated than Miss Rutledge's. She now says that though opposed to Abe and his advances still he was one of the best and most honest men that she ever knew. She dressed neatly — grandly, never — though she could well have afforded it." |

Wow, Scott, that is an outstanding guess. However, I am sorry that it is not correct.

RE: Who is this person?
Brilliant, Gene! Mentor Graham is correct.
Mary Owens complained that Abraham did not look after her as she tried to cross a creek. (She said Abraham was "deficient in those little links which make up the chain of woman's happiness.") You win the right to help Mary Owens cross the creek in a manner that would meet her approval. |

RE: Who is this person?
Scott, he was buried in a small Presbyterian cemetery just south of Blunt, SD. A wooden slab was placed on his grave which said "The Teacher of Abraham Lincoln." His remains lay there for nearly a half century. In 1933 his granddaughter, Mary (who was a teacher herself), had the remains returned to Illinois. Joe Di Cola posted a photo of his gravestone yesterday.
