That is an interesting article!

I was unable to get Laurie's link to work. However, I found if I copy and pasted the link she posted into Google then I could get to the article by clicking on the Google listing.

I'm getting the same 404 Error on my home computer now. However, on the page that reports the error, there is a listing of suggested readings to the right. The article is listed there, and when I click on it, I get the original article. Ah, the wonders of technology -- as in wonder why it works sometimes and doesn't work other times...

That article is from the Introduction to the book A Just and Generous Nation: Abraham Lincoln and the Fight for American Opportunity by Harold Holzer and Norton Garfinkle.

This is the title/headline of the article:
