Music Maggie Branson's Grave
On Friday before the Conference Reception, Nancy Griffith and myself drove up to Baltimore through snow and sleet (!) to view Maggie Branson's grave in Woodlawn Cemetery. We trudged through 3 inches of snow with the aid of a very helpful cemetery director to locate the plot; plus were given access to the entire burial file. Maggie (1834-1914) is buried with her husband, Charles E. Barnett (1838-1921) and daughter, Elizabeth Barnett Chapman (1880-1933). Maggie's birth year as carved on the headstone coincides with the year on her death certificate, 1834. Sister Mary's birth year on her death certificate is listed as 1831. Therefore, Mary Branson (Lew's "fiancee") was the older sister and Maggie the younger - not the other way around as has been described.... I'm now looking for christening records -
