Eva, just check Trivago to see which hotel booking site has the cheapest price. Hotel, Trivago!

Eva's posting previous to this was about the excellent little b&b/hostel that she was able to find last March (in a snow storm) after the Surratt Conference was over. It is in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and looks quite charming. And, Thomas, if Trivago can beat $45/night at a decent hotel in D.C., I'll send you a Smithsonian Special Edition.

P.S. Not sure that you know that Eva lives in Kiel, Germany, on the edge of the Baltic Sea, so it requires a bit of effort and $$$ for her to come to the Surratt Conference each year -- let alone attend other history events that she would love. We in the D.C. area are very blessed to have so many things practically at our doorstep -- except cheap hotels!

Thanks, Laurie - this was by far the cheapest price at least my hotel research did come up with...and turned out to be not only the cheapest but also a wonderful place.

Yes, I am very happy I could make it again this very special year (and thanks again for your assistance in overcoming all "bureaucratic" obstacles), and I was ready and willing to raid my savings for this unique opportunity to get it all-in-one: the conference featuring so many great names and topics, AND the Booth Escape Tour I have fancied since I first heard of. And, of course, all the other great else and so many of the nicest like-minded people all in one place...
Re: "We in the D.C. area are very blessed to have so many things practically at our doorstep" - you absolutely are!!!!!!

There will be a live stream of A Lincoln Commemoration on the 14th for those who can't make it.

Does anyone have any Lincoln Commemoration tickets? I'm desperate!

Maybe the powers to be can get the Studebaker Museum to have it in Springfield for the fall, if it's not already going there

Here's a short 2 minute video on moving the carriage.

I plan to go visit the carriage when I go to The Lincoln Tribute.

52 people from the Surratt Conference will be the first to view the Lincoln carriage on Friday, March 20, before it goes on display to the general public.
