RE: Seward House Exhibit - Powell and Seward
Eva-
Reuben sandwiches are a deli staple here in the U.S. Believe it or not I've never had one, but on her deathbed a few nights before the end my mother was craving her nurse to beg borrow or steal to get her one. She had completely stopped eating, but just had to have a Reuben! Betty- Are those photos in your post from the infamous Seward sick room?? I agree with Eva...if ONLY I could win the lottery! |

RE: Seward House Exhibit - Powell and Seward
The photos are from Seward House and the exhibit they are setting up.... by "sick room" I think you are mentioning the "Seward House" in DC? That structure, also called "The Old Club House" was demolished in the late 1890s to make way for the Belasco Theatre.
The present Seward House Museum is the Seward home in Auburn, New York - can't wait to go - it looks wonderful! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |

Hello Eva,
Matt from the Seward House Museum here. Betty was kind enough to invite me to join the group. Fanny's dress does still exist, though it shows its age and spends most of the time in textile storage. Matthew Macvittie Collections & Exhibits Manager Seward House Museum |

RE: Seward House Exhibit - Powell and Seward
Hi Eva,
Thanks for the welcome! The dress is not usually on display because of its condition. But feel free to let me know when you might be visiting and I would be happy to set up a backroom tour. |
