@Dave - that list on your blog is great! It'll help me pick out a lot of things I would not have known otherwise. Thank you!

Cool. Gonna have a party that night!

I hope they will have the scenery the moment the assassination occurred on stage those days.

Great - let's meet up! I only managed to get tickets for general admission so far; some events are not available until March to non-members.

I'm really counting the days (weeks...) now!

Let the countdown begin. In case anyone is wondering, I'll be the kid in the Sports Authority collapsible chair on 10th Street during the vigil.

I will look out for that chair!
And yes, I have only general admission tickets as well - but I managed to snag one for the exhibit which you can only view when you make a reservation for an audio tour.
I think it's at 5am...

I couldn't remember whether my ticket included the audio tour, so I bought another one just in case (at 5 a.m.).

Big Grin
I can't wait to meet people who are on this board - I feel like I'm taking a college class every time I come here to read what you are all debating.
And meeting some of you would be a such a gift!
I thought 3 days in D.C. would be plenty; now I am not so sure anymore...

There should be an "I WISH I WAS GOING, POUTING 'CAUSE I CAN'T"! category.

That would be yours truly.Sad

Was fortunate enough to secure an old handbook of fords theater when it was the Lincoln museum. I will bring it with me to the Lincoln Tribute. I am working on a category like the one you suggested LincolnToddFan

Would love to attend but personal situation prevents. For those going- please share with the Forum the experience for those, like me, who can't.

Bill,

Any chance you could attend the events planned at the Henry Ford Museum and report back to us on that? I'd love to see some pictures of the chair Lincoln died in outside of its case.

EDIT: I just saw that the Doris Kearns Goodwin event is sold out. However on April 15th, admission to the museum will be free, the chair will still be in a special display and you could receive a free souvenir program, including a map designating Lincoln-related artifacts on exhibit. I'd love to know all the Lincoln things they have on display.

RE: Ford's150 Information
I have gone through the long list of events at Ford's and there are two things that look very intriguing but are, as of now, limited to members. Tickets for non-members go on sale a week later.

One is "Now He Belongs to the Ages: A Lincoln Commemoration" and the other "Midnight Tour with James Swanson".

What do you all think - will there be a chance to get tickets for non-members? Or is it advised to call ahead and offer the first-born?

I tried that, but they wanted me to pay the shipping and handling. Confused

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

RE: Ford's150 Information
I have cleared my work schedule for April 15th to attend the Henry Ford Museum observance regarding the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's death. The Ford's Theater rocker will be on special display that day. This is a must-see. It will be out of it's sealed case. This is once in a lifetime.

The midnight tour with James Swanson and the Lincoln Commemoration were both sold out in less than 10 minutes :-(
I tried on two computers and my phone and did not even get a single ticket...
