You are incredibly talented Rick! This is so beautiful! Thank you Rick from the bottom of my heart. I listened today and now it's an earworm, a beautiful one ...

Kees,

You are most welcome; it is my pleasure.

Take Care,

Rick

Mike,

Nice looking group of men there.

I believe I see good ol' Winnie the Pooh under the tree.

Take Care,

Rick

It was so beautiful that I broke down and cried at my desk, and the tears washed away my troubles. Rick is very talented, very well-read, and a wonderful friend. He's one of the many blessings that I have found while working at Surratt House. Santa could never bring me a better friend.

Laurie,

Now it is my turn to have tears in my eyes. Thank you for all that you have said.

You have just committed me to next year's docenting with a will.

I retire when you retire.

Rick

RE: Happy holidays!
Thank you all. You are all very kind.

Eva, this picture was taken this year. Those aren't gifts, the boxes have their own ornaments in them. This was taken just after Thanksgiving when the boys decorated the tree.

I'm sure they wished these were early gifts, and i have already caught the older two snooping.

RE: Happy holidays!
Mike - I believe I see that some new front teeth have grown in over this past year?

My "baby" grandson is now 14 years old, and I miss the earlier years of Christmas enthusiasm. He's still enthusiastic, but the toys get progressively more expensive! I loved the days of Toys R Us and cheap little cars, trucks, and anything that resembled construction vehicles. Besides, I knew how to play those kind of games.

RE: Happy holidays!
You are right Laurie. I am so glad that they are still at an age where all toys are fun and their imaginations still run wild. My oldest is changing a bit, he is obsessed with any and all things sports. Give him a ball and he is fine. I am glad he is into activities instead of video games but part of me misses the little boy who would sit and play with his "guys."

It is not all cute and cuddly though. About ten minutes after the picture was taken the hurricane swept through. The grabbing, wrestling, whining, and fighting always pop up. The boys resembled Godzilla. The tree was Tokyo and numerous ornaments were casualties in the wake. We are still finding ornaments that we have placed ( or so we thought ) out of reach of our youngest from time to time.
Sometimes ( because of their impatience and indelicate care )all that goes through my head is, " Is it time to pet the rabbits George?"
Overall, it has been enjoyable. The boys wanted to use their own money to buy Mom her gifts this year. Jack ( my middle ) was at the store with Kristi shopping for his Brothers. He saw something that he thought my oldest ( Michael ) would love but it was thirty dollars over their twenty dollar limit. He begged Kristi to let him pay the additional thirty with gift cards he got for his birthday. She said no. He was very upset. Later that evening we decided that his heart was in the right place, and if doing this was what he truly wanted then it was fine. After all, he WAS demonstrating the true meaning of Christmas to us. Giving is always more special. We were very proud of him.

And yes, their teeth are filling in. I miss that too. But at least the Orthodontist is having a wonderful year.

Thanks for the info, Mike (Tree is usually done on early Xmas Eve here, so I was wondering.) It's an awesome tree, your boys have done a good job!

RE: Happy holidays!
Good news for the holidays: CNBC is reporting that "Lincoln Logs, the popular building toy created nearly a century ago by a son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is coming home to the U.S.

"Toymaker K'Nex has brought manufacturing of the wooden pieces to Burnham, Maine, after decades of being made in China.

"'With such an iconic brand like Lincoln Logs, which has been made in China for the last almost 60 years, we've been working on bringing it back for the last four years. We've had some fits and starts, but finally have a supply chain built,'" said K'Nex CEO Michael Araten."

I fondly remember playing with my Lincoln logs as a boy- I can still remember how they smelled. Of course I used the logs to build fortifications with my Marx Civil War soldiers. What memories. Now does anyone remember Tinker Toys?

RE: Happy holidays!
I sure do, and I think they were made by the same company that did the Lincoln Logs? I had a set, but I didn't play with it that much - think it's a boy thing... They were still in stores like Walmart and Toys R Us when my grandson was little, but I never bought him any.

RE: Happy holidays!
If you like the Beatles- check out the youtube videos of The Fab Four (not the Beatles) doing traditional Christmas songs to Beatles tunes. Simply amazing!

I have fond memories of playing with both of them when we were little too! (and yes, the smell too!)

My grandsons, Ayden and Bryant, got Lincoln Logs for Christmas last year, and a version of Tinker Toys for their 6th birthday. Tinker Toys are still around, but they're made all of plastic now, so I had to find another manufacturer. There's just something so satisfying about wooden toys! On the other hand, now Grammy is trying to find Rig-a-Jigs for their next birthday. Does anyone remember them?

Dawn, my earliest memory of Tinker Toys looked like this:
