Dave Taylor's talk in Port Royal.
Here's how to find Town Hall.
Coming South on 301. Come off the bridge - Move on down 301, until you pass a long low Bright Blue building on your right. The end of the building is even with MIDDLE STREET that is on your left. Turn left onto MIDDLE. Go one block, turn right. TOWN HALL is on your left.
There is a Flag Pole in front, and a tall Water Tower behind the building. (It will be daylight - so no problem.) TOWN HALL is spread across the front of the Building. They are not generous with parking, watch what the locals are doing. You may have a short walk.
See ya' there.

RE: Dave Taylor's talk in Port Royal.
I made it to Dave's presentation Not crowded, but full. The room is lined with portraits of "Ancient Citizens" including Richard Garrett. I had "Handicap Parking" in the front row, so I didn't miss a word. Dave is a teacher, so he speaks clearly with exact pronunciation, and volume. The hall did not support "PowerPoint", so he passed photographs around, etc. (He didn't need maps for this audience.) The president of the Society, set the theme for the evening by Speaking RAPIDLY, and hustled their Society reports - this led to Dave being pushed somewhat. They did not allow time for questions and answers. There was a set time for the meeting, and that was to be held to. But Dave showed them - he did a great job, and did it on time (Their time). He did not present some of the controversial points (that eliminated occasional groans) but he told the whole story. Much od the story, I had never heard (such as conversations at the Garrett House and in-house activity among members of the Garrett household.) A Great Evening. I recommend attendance, when Dave is the Speaker (Whatever the topic)

RE: Dave Taylor's talk in Port Royal.
I had a grand time presenting at Port Royal about a subject so closely related to the surroundings. Best of all, however, was looking out and seeing the familiar faces of Lindsey, John Stanton and Bob Cook in the front row to help put me at ease. I found that quite quickly I deviated from my script and was pretty much talking off the cuff about a subject I enjoy so much.

By the way, Bob Cook will be presenting at the meeting of the Caroline County Historical Society in Bowling Green on Sunday. His talk will be about living on the John Wilkes Booth escape route and his many exploits in the field. I would love to attend his speech, however I have already made plans to drive up to Tudor Hall in order to heckle...err..support Jim Garrett as he will be giving a talk about John Wilkes Booth and his childhood at Tudor Hall.

It's clearly the busy season for us Boothies.

Darn! We have nothing going on in Pennsylvania. Just looking to see if a woodchuck see his/her shadow. Be sure to ask Jim about Herold at the Petersen house!

Dave, I would have LOVED to have heard your talk - Port Royal is only 40 minutes away from my house....but I had some family issues to take care of for my mom - hopefully, I'll get to hear you again soon. You are such an excellent speaker!

Betty has a talk coming up soon in Virginia also, if I'm not mistaken. And Lindsey educated a DAR group about the Confederate underground a few weeks back.
