I don't believe "tens of millions" of non-Christians are offended by Christmas anymore than I believe "tens of millions" of Christians are offended by so-called "political correctness." It's a vocal minority who watches Fox News and believes "their" country is being taken away from them that are up in arms.

Rob, that comment was not aimed at you, and I just wanted to delete my comment (now it's too late). The thought of Christmas as a politically incorrect term, well, irritated me, but it was probably an impolite remark as it's not my right to comment on customs and internal political/religious views in other countries. Sorry.

I believe you have every right to express your opinion here, and I respect it. That said, it's time for me to take a vacation from here. I come here to talk about Lincoln, and not argue about politics. I respect the opinion of everyone else, even if I don't agree with them.

I have other things that need my attention.

Please believe me Eva, my decision has absolutely nothing to do with your post. My blood pressure is on the rise and my doctor ordered me to delete stress from my life. The only two things right now causing me stress are my book and this board. As I will not give up my book, this board has to go (for the time being).

Please continue to provide a perspective from outside of our country. I, for one, welcome it.

I am going to close this thread. The whole purpose of the forum was to try to fill the gap caused by the closing of the Friends of Lincoln Mailbag. I hate to see that this thread is causing stress, and I don't think Rob is alone when he says this. I agree with Rob. Causing stress is the last thing I ever wanted when I began the forum in July 2012. I never realized that would happen. Reading all these posts is causing me stress, too. Stress is not good for anyone's health, so I am closing the thread for the good of everyone.
