RE: British Involvement in Lincoln Assassination?!
There is a John McElroy who wrote on Abraham Lincoln, as well as, his time at Andersonville. He was born 1846 and died 1929. His writing on Abraham Lincoln was serialized in the Nationa; Tribune and a book (pamphlet) was published from those writings in 1910 called, "Soul Growth of Abraham Lincoln" and is available on archive.org at link.

I saw a portion of an article sequence written by John McElroy in the National Tribune of 6 Jan 1910 (on Newspapers.com) starting on page 1 and continued on page 6. It claims to be Chapter L and it alone is more than what is in the pamphlet, so it must be another serialization which discusses the capture of Booth and Herold with discussion on the capture of John Surratt.

Background on John McElroy: Sent to Andersonville. Appears to be high up in the Grand Army of the Republic. Served on committees with O. H. Oldroyd. A book on the "Proceedings of the ... Annual Encampment ..." can be looked through at Google Books at link.
