Odd that the name Abraham has not become popular
There's a list of 10 dumb things to ask, one of them being "why don't people name their boys Adolf anymore?"
But on the other end of the ethics spectrum is Abraham Lincoln and it is curious that it is an "old fashioned" name that has not had a revival. But come to think of it I can cite very few other Abrahams ever: Fortas and, I think, the current head of the ADL Is Abraham Lincoln so revered that it would seem presumptuous to name a mere infant after him? Even his tragically short-lived grandson went by "Jack." Or perhaps it just has too many syllables. (Moses, Isaac, Ishmael seem to have been retired too--maybe it's a patriarch thing.) |
