Eagleeye - Please call me Laurie (that's what the L stands for). Your newspapers are in excellent condition, and I suspect that is because they have been kept away from sunlight and air. Are they also contained within a ledger-type of book? Glued in? What? That book is offering them some protection also.
However, after 35 years as a museum director and way too many classes and seminars in conservation, I can only beg you to get them out of that wooden box and into acid-free, archival storage boxes. Wood can be very detrimental to many items, especially paper. If you intend to sell them in the near future, I guess it's not your concern; but they really should be better protected. |
