Detective Charles Rosch testified to retrieving it from Spangler's home and it was, "found to contain eighty-one feet". Apparently, "the twist was very carefully taken out" of it, too.

Hint #1: I am using Mr. James O. Hall's research regarding the four girls who were waitresses at Mrs. Carter's place. Two of the girls were Mattie and Molly. What were the names of the other two waitresses?

I'm not sure about Dr. Hall's research but according to the census records the Carter daughters were Martha, Molly, Sarah (or Sallie) and Agnes.

Excellent, Dave. Kudos. I think Martha was often called Mattie.

A few years ago I noticed that Richard Chiarappa had included the waitresses' names in his musical entitled Lincoln & Booth: A Historical Musical. I had never seen the names in any book, so I wrote Mr. Chiarappa and asked his source. He said then when he was writing his musical Mr. Hall had sent him the girls' names. This would have been in the 1990's.
