RE: Assassination Trivia
Was he one of the traveling undertakers for the trip back to Springfield?
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Gene, that is sure a logical guess, but he was not one of those folks.

RE: Assassination Trivia
Col. George V. Rutherford as one of those who claimed to have placed the silver half-dollars on Lincoln's eyes?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Brilliant, Eva! This was a tough question.
At least four men claimed to have placed coins over Lincoln's eyes: Dr. Charles Augustus Leale, John L. Bolton, Colonel George V. Rutherford, and Colonel Thomas McCurdy Vincent. Once again, thanks to Blaine for sending the photo. Eva, I cannot think of a prize for this - I'll simply wish you a wonderful day. |

RE: Assassination Trivia
As far as I know this is the only memorial CDV for a Lincoln conspirator - who was the conspirator? (the name has been cropped out)

RE: Assassination Trivia
It's beautiful. I try my fellow countryman first - Atzerodt?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Excellent, Eva! Indeed George Atzerodt is correct. Many thanks to Blaine for sending it. He found it in an antique shop in Gettysburg.
You win a beautiful and warm summer in Germany. |

It looked German to me - I realize that doesn't mean it doesn't look American either...
Love the prize! |
