Happy birthday, John Bingham: One of America’s forgotten “Second Founders”
Today marks the 201st birthday of John Bingham. Following Lincoln’s assassination, he was a member of the team that prosecuted John Wilkes Booth’s co-conspirators.

Cadiz (pronounced like the Spanish city, Kat'is) is a sleepy town in east-central, Ohio, a coal-mining area. I cannot imagine why he decided to reside there, with all the more popular places to live in the east. If anyone knows, please advise. My only problem with Bingham is the fact that in his famous summation, he piled error upon error in his arguments against Spangler. Spangler was innocent. Amen. John |

He became estranged from his family over his pro-union stance.
