We have done these dinners for years and thought once the girls were married they would carry on the tradition. Well that didn't happen. They say we do such a good job and they all like to come to our house. Don't know if I buy that story. But we really don't mind. We just think of those who have no one to be with and how lucky we truly are. And Herb I must admit that no I am not an Eagle fan. Have been a Cowboy fan since 1968. Have been to Texas with my wife who is a football fan ( How lucky am I ) a number of times to watch Eagles and Cowboys play each other. Its always easy to back the winner of the day. As I was driving home from the office yesterday through College Park on Route One, there was a HUGE plume of black smoke over to the East. I took that to be a bad omen for the Nats, even though they were ahead one/zip at that moment. It was a roofing company on fire and it sure put out some dense black smoke. No one was badly injured, but two fire engines were destroyed when some propane tanks blew up. I take my excitement where I can get it. --Jim Please visit my blog: http://jimsworldandwelcometoit.com/ |

I also like the packers even though they took our superbowl run away from us on that Dez Bryant catch in the playoffs. Honestly if I had to pick another team to cheer for it would be the packers. They are a great team. Love Rogers, he has so much talent. They will be in the running next year. |

How great is that to be a friend of Gregg Jennings. He is and will always be known as a great receiver. Makes you wonder why they would let him go to the Vikings? But I am sure he has told you that football is a business. I won't even try to explain how or why they the owners do what they do. There are many people who try and do that for a living. I know the Bills have new owners but history has shown me that it takes time to built a winning team. I hope they do well because I get bored at times when the same teams are in it at the end. I loved Jim Kelly when he played. Time will tell |

The Bills think that, new owners, new talent and Rex Ryan will bring the Bills back to winning again! I agree with you that time will tell.Jennings[a give back guy] has told me that it is all about $$$$$ and they love Rogers too much!I had a former Packer player, who was a player of mine in high school, confirm those facts to me also.

As far as Rodgers goes of course they love him. He has given them what they wanted, wins, media attention and fans that spend money. But as history shows that will all change and Rogers will be another Brett Favre. That is just the nature of all sports. I am sure that all players know that going in. As far as Rex Ryan goes lets just hope he can keep his mouth shout and do the job of getting the Bills back in the game. Have a great day. |

April 9, 1865
I hope that we all bowed our heads at some point today and recognized that it was 150 years ago this date that Gen. Lee surrendered his forces to Gen. Grant and began the slow process of reunification, reconciliation, and reconstruction. If for no other reason, give reverence to the 700,000 men who died on both sides and to the families throughout the North and South who lost loved ones and had property destroyed. Make your own vow that our country will never be put in such a situation again.

Below are some nice articles discussing this historic day: Here are some sketches done by Alfred Waud: http://www.vox.com/2015/4/9/8371435/appo...r-sketches And here is an article covering the surrender: http://www.nps.gov/apco/the-meeting.htm |
