This is my senior thesis paper on Charles Leale, tell me what you think and give opinions/comments!

Nice job...one little comment. On the top of p4 "As Lincoln drifted in and out of conciousness", it was my understanding that the president never regained conciousness after being shot. But, I could be mistaken. Is this a quote from Leale?
I was always curious about what happened to Leale after the war. Thanks for the info

You are correct, he never slipped back in, but many thought he would. As I researched, I found that many found Lincoln to be immortal and a higher being in the sense that he would not die like the way he did.

Over the years I have tried to make a list of all the men who either claimed or were given credit to have helped carry the stricken president across the street from Ford's Theatre to the Petersen House. The names include Dr. Charles Leale, Dr. Charles Taft, Dr. Albert King, Albert Daggett, Augustus Clark, Capt. Obadiah Jackson Downing, Capt. Edwin Bedee, Major Isaac Walker McClay, W.H. Flood, Frederick Johnstone, Jacob J. Soles, John Corey, Jacob
Griffiths, William Sample, William McPeck, John Weaver, Joseph Hazelton, Capt. Owen, Capt. John Sears, Capt. John Busby, Capt. Oliver C. Gatch, George A. Clark, Thomas Gourlay, John Veach, Major White, and William Greer.
If anyone knows of additional names (or "claims") please send!

A descendant of Capt. Obadiah Jackson Downing did an article on this subject a number of years ago for the Surratt Courier. When you read all of these people who claimed to have carried Lincoln across the street, you can only assume that it was done via crowd surfing.
PS: For any old-timers on this forum, that's like rock concerts where a person is lifted up and passed overhead from one wild audience member to another.

Many thanks, Dave. I'll check it out. This impossibly huge list of Lincoln bearers reminds me of Holzer and Williams' Rubber Room Phenomenon topped by Alonzo Chappel's depiction of 47 mourners in Willie Clark's room at the Petersen House:

It probably just looks bigger without that security rail.
There seem to be four other women in the room besides Mrs. Lincoln. To the right of Robert looks like Clara Harris.
In reality, what other women besides Mrs. Lincoln were allowed in the room?
