Thanks, Roger! I'm looking forward to reading the Edwin Booth book reviewed in the Courier. Laurie, does the Surratt House sell it?

I;m not sure that we will be selling the new Edwin Booth book, Susan. Not because it's not worthy, but our small shop is so crowded now that we are having problems with finding space for new items.

Thomas and Eva, Hopefully your issues will arrive soon. I can't understand why Thomas's has not gotten to him (did you remember to renew your dues?). Nearly 1000 of the copies left my office on the Monday before Thanksgiving. Delays to Germany I can understand, but not to another post office right within the state of Maryland.
I'm not a society member, that's probably why.

Looking forward to reading the story and the issue. Just received it 12/5/15 out in AZ.

The above was in the message buffer but did not show. Hmmm.

In the meantime, I did read the article and agree with everyone. Very nicely done, Susan.

That explains it! Just $10/year for 12 issues (generally 12-16 pages each issue) plus free admission for museum tours and special events, and a $5 discount on our highly popular Booth Escape Route Tours.

Unless your address has changed, Dennis, your newsletter was one of those that left my office on November 22. If it is any consolation, we always send a copy of the Courier to our research center, which is right next door to the building with my office. It took until this past Saturday, December 5, for that copy to return home to us. Very frustrating because it costs over a $1000 a month to mail these.

P.S. Please don't advise sending via e-mail. We have discussed that many times.

My Courier came in the mail yesterday. Thanks for checking. No address change. Loved the Slater article. I have told folks for many years just how much more reliable and faster the postal service was during the CW based on dates and postmarks on soldier's letters. Very true.

Just finished reading the December issue of the Surratt Courier. Excellent!

I enjoyed the article by Susan regarding Sarah Slater. Thank you for the research and information in that one. Well done Susan!

However, the Christmas letters, are my favorite. I’m sure everyone has experienced Christmas letters in today’s world which, as was said in the Courier, usually speak of vacations and achievements. But those that the Courier shared with us were from a different time and a different attitude. I can only imagine the heartfelt compassion that was part of those writings. Thanks for sharing them.

Received the January 2016 edition last night! It looks interesting. I have yet to read it!

Kudos to Susan H. and Jim W. The February edition of the Courier includes fascinating information shared by these two outstanding researchers.

Second that. The letters were fascinating.

Roger - I, also, say thanks for the mention and to those at the Courier for finding some of my info of interest.

RE: Surratt Courier - L Verge - 02-18-2016 07:30 PM

The March issue of the Courier will leave my office tomorrow morning bound for the USPS distribution center outside of D.C. Let's time it and see how long it takes to go across the U.S. as well as across The Pond. We have several members in Australia, and I often wonder how long it takes to reach them.

Feb. 24th and I have a Courier. I have to check- is this last month's issue or next month's? I think I'm going to faint. Thanks Laurie.
