I am a native Floridian who was that rare Southerner who had close-to-no exposure to the Civil War growing up (as a 2000-2010s kid I am the second-to-last generation farthest removed). I became interested when my dad bought a book from National Geographic on the subject. I am now devoted to understanding the conflict without partisanship or bias.
