Apple Blossom at Appomatox

While I was teaching,"Rochester and The Civil War"I had an elderly Gentleman come to me with a diary-bible in his hand.In it was an Apple Blossom from a tree at Appomatox[very well preserved].In his diary he said,"I saw Lincoln and now I am at the surrender of this terrible war,my life is complete"!

For sure. Lincoln saw battle at Ft. Stevens (am I correct?) and almost got his head shot off!
