FREE on line books
Found some neat free books on Google.

* It now seems as though the link originally posted doesn't work, so try the Internet Archives search.
https://archive.org/details/googlebooks

some of the titles are:
Washington in Lincoln's Time by Noah Brooks
Lincoln in the Telegraph Office by Homer Bates
Abraham Lincoln by Lord Charnwood
Diary of Gideon Welles
With Malice Towards None by Honore Morrow
Mr. Lincoln's Washington by Stanley Kimmel
Through Five Administratins by William Crook
the Lincoln No One Knows by Webb Graham
and a whole lot more

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Maddie -

Go to the link and then find the books you want and click on the blue hyperlink to download in PDF format.

I also have the play about Mrs. Surratt in PDF format posted here as well - under Books....

RE: FREE on line books
When I was trying to download a book I was asked to register for a Google account. I suppose you had to, too (or had already registered before)?! I hesitated after reading the terms of use and data privacy statement, some paragraphs appeared a bit slippery; they seem to provide data access to others. Is it for sure that I'm not automatically purchasing anything or going to receive thousands of spams?

Eva - I haven't had a problem either -- but try the instructions here to access FREE Books without having to register for Google....

RE: FREE on line books
Thank you so much, touching was the clue. I always clicked on the red button. It's a great link, I've only downloaded music yet, never knew that there are also free books available!

RE: FREE on line books
Good link Gene. I wonder if anyone has ever read the complete diary of Gideon Welles...Besides Welles himself.

RE: FREE on line books
Free online audio books

A Diary From Dixie by Mary Chestnut
Herndon's Lincoln by William Herndon
Andersonville Diary
Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
and many, many more that are not listed on this link

https://archive.org/details/librivoxaudi...nloads&and[]=subject%3A%22civil%20war%22

For some strange reason the link isn't working....go to the topic list on the right. They are listed by numbers of books. Civil War (32)

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?
