With today's tragedy in mind, I am reminded of Lincoln's consolations. When did the name "The Great Heart" come about?

I know there was a "Great-Heart" in Pilgrim's Progress"- a book that Lincoln had read as a young man. Not sure when it was first applied to Lincoln.
