Journal recording mourning inscriptions around Manhattan
I don't know if this has been mentioned here before, but Brown University has this wonderful journal in which an anonymous observer recorded mourning inscriptions he saw while walking around Manhattan after the assassination. It's very moving and can be seen in its entirety online.

How interesting, Susan. I note that it was donated to Brown by John D. Rockefeller Jr.

Thank you Susan !! I just finished reading the journal. Such a creative and moving way to capture the depth of mourning and in a neighborhood Lincoln knew. He gave his Cooper Union Address there.
