Innocent or Guilty? Mary Surratt and the Lincoln Assassination
On Tuesday, April 12th, I am giving a Zoom presentation to the Civil War Round Table of the District of Columbia (CWRTDC) on Mary Surratt and the Lincoln Assassination, around 6:30 p.m. ET. The CWTRDC's presentations are open to the public (i.e., you need not join or be a member) and all are welcome. Bill and Roger:
I researched this issue thoroughly when I wrote Decapitating the Union. My analysis of all the evidence, inculpatory and exculpatory, and my conclusions, are found in Chapter Five, which I hope you will read if you have not already. I believe you will agree that it is a very objective treatment of the subject. John |

RE: Innocent or Guilty? Mary Surratt and the Lincoln Assassination
I received an inquiry from someone who visited the CWRTDC website and saw that there would be a "Social Period" beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET for the Tuesday, April 12th meeting, and inquired whether the "Social Period" was open to non-members of the CWRTDC. The answer is YES. All are welcome, and the "Social Period" may provide an opportunity to meet some of the members of the CWRTDC and to introduce yourself. If interested, feel free to join us via Zoom at 6:00p.m. ET on the 12th. There will be a brief business meeting at 6:30, followed by the presentation.

Bill, I wasn't able to tune in to your presentation.
Was Mary guilty? which reminds me of a song. Is that Louis Weichmann with the hat on at the .39 second mark? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmQ3Xk3txpo Enquiring minds want to know. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Innocent or Guilty? Mary Surratt and the Lincoln Assassination
Bill, congrats on an outstanding talk last night. I cannot remember your exact words, but I knew it was going to be good when you defined the mail delivery system at the Surratt tavern as an early version of the operations of a current-day McDonald's drive thru. You covered all the bases regarding Mary Surratt, and I am sure you inspired many in the audience to do further reading on the topic. You could not have done it any better.
