Katherine Langsdale Beveridge
Many thanks to Susan for sending these images. She writes, "A while back on one of the trivia threads, there was a discussion of a photo of Alfred Beveridge and his second wife. The attached photo, which I recently acquired, is identified as being of his first wife, Katherine "Kate" Langsdale, who died in 1900 of what one obituary describes as "tuberculosis of the bowels." It shows her and a school chum; unfortunately, it's not clear who is which.

RE: Katherine Langsdale Beveridge
In looking at the two biographies of Beveridge, I found nothing that would have described her. Her father was editor of the Greencastle Banner newspaper and I was able to find the announcement of their wedding on November 24, 1887, but nothing that gave any detail about her. I then did a search on Hattie Joslyn, and although Joslyn is still a name in Greencastle, there was nothing about her, including any other photos.

Sad to say, determining which one is Mrs. Beveridge is going to be impossible with the current information known.

Susan, can you give more information as to how you came across this? Thanks for posting.

RE: Katherine Langsdale Beveridge
My inclination is to think that since the person who wrote the caption did not specify that Hattie was the lady on the left, the reader was supposed to understand that Katherine was that lady.

I bought this from a Facebook photo dealer who had a variety of CDVs for sale. I don't recall there being any connection between the various ones offered.

RE: Katherine Langsdale Beveridge
Just curious Susan, are there any other photos of people with any notoriety in the collection?

No. I don't know if the CDVs I bought even originated from the same family; the other ones I bought from the dealer were just photos of pretty women with no notations on the back. None cost more than $5.00.

RE: Katherine Langsdale Beveridge
I would assume she was the one on the left but-who knows?
