Believe it or not, this is a cake
Cheryl and I went to the Paducah fall Quilt Show today (and met up later for dinner with Gene C., and his lovely wife, Joy). We normally go to the spring show, but decided to wait until fall. When we entered the convention center, this cake was in the lobby. EVERYTHING that is pictured here, from the sewing machine to the quilt batting to the "sewing table" and every little thing sitting on it is actually a cake. It was made by Mauro Castano of Carlo’s Bakery in New York City, who is on the TV show Cake Boss. It was truly amazing. And no, I didn't sneak a piece. RE: Believe it or not, this is a cake
Anita,
I'm not really sure. The cake was actually unveiled Thursday and the ad I saw implied that there would be cake for the people who showed up, but I imagine it was other cake, given how one-of-a-kind this is. It weighs over 2000 pounds. Evidently much of it was baked in New York and then transported to Kentucky in a refrigerated van and put together there. No word on what will happen to it once the show ends today. I'll be sending you some more pictures by email once I get them all together. RE: Believe it or not, this is a cake
Mary Lincoln would have loved this. Just imagine the cakes she would dream up for her White House parties. The press would have a field day with "Let them eat cake!"
