Rumors about Lincoln having a male bed companion in White House?
Came across this on Facebook today, prompted by presidential candidate Peter Buttigieg saying "he won't be first gay president":
Quote:There were rumors about Abe Lincoln because when Mary was out of the WH overnight, he had a male bed companion. I have never heard of that. Has anybody? I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863) |

Thanks. I figured it had probably been discussed, but I couldn't think of any search terms to use that I thought would turn up something.
