New Lincoln statue in Springfield
Wonderful photos of the new Lincoln statue. It's great to see statues going up, rather than down: https://newschannel20.com/news/local/gal...ld#photo-1

We had that statue of Lincoln and "Everyman" (although he looks like Perry Como!) outside of the Miami County Courthouse in Troy, OH for 18 months. It was there both before and after the visit of the Lincoln Funeral Train in 2015. Gene and Joy Cook came over from Kentucky and spent a few days with me to see the funeral train and statue. We also toured the Museum of the United States Airforce at Wright-Patterson AFB, Carillon Park which includes the Wright Flyer 3--the first practical aircraft, and had several fine-dining experiences at restaurants and at my home. It was a great time, especially sharing it with Gene and Joy!

I think I would have put the statue of Perry Como and Abraham Lincoln in front of the Cozy Dog Restaurant because...

Okay, I just left Springfield on Monday after Gene and Joe's Springfield Tour. Pretty sneaky. Hot Diggity, another reason to return.

Joe, he does look like Perry Como. Does "Everyman" look like an Italian?

I live about 25 miles from the hometown of Perry Como, Canonsburg, PA, also the hometown of Bobby Vinton and of the fabulous chocolate of Sarris Candies.
I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863)

Is it now permanent or no? How tall is it? The other one does look like Perry Como!
Joe, you mentioned the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum. I love that place. I am a huge fan of WWII aircraft. So much there to see. And it’s free!

Bill,

The fully-restored "Memphis Belle" went on permanent display in May. You and Donna should consider coming to Troy for a stay with me and we can go see the WWII aircraft. I, too, am a fan, particularly the B-24 Liberator (James Stewart flew these).

Joe: we would love too! We saw the Belle there last year. It was quite a thrill! But there is so much to see! Yes, and the B-24 is there. Donna’s uncle was a tail-gunner on a 24 in WWII. I gave his eulogy when he died. Jimmy Stewart is my favorite actor and was such a great man. Have you read the book “Mission”? I’m sure you have!
