Book on blackmailers of Booth
About a year and a half ago I joined the forum looking to hear if anyone knew any information about Eusebia Lee/Fitzgerald/Wooley, aka Annie Melville aka Jane H. Fleming.
In 1885, a rumor surfaced from a court trial in Elmira that she had been a mistress of Andrew Johnson and was with him the night of the assassination. The mistress part might have been true.
I also made a post or two about a requisition I had found in the Penn. State Archives from 1858 signed by the PA governor and sent to Virginia, requesting the apprehension of John Wilkes Booth for breach of promise.
I lay out the case (circumstantial, but strong) that this woman, along with lawyer Robert M. Lee and master forger James B. Crosse, blackmailed Booth, forcing him to flee Philadelphia, in The Writing Master: The Story of the Gentleman-Thief and Forger, James B. Crosse.

I do remember your sharing the information about Booth being sued for breach of promise. Congratulations on completing your work and publishing the book. I'll be checking into it also.
