2018 Lincoln Colloquium
The 2018 Lincoln Colloquium will be held in Indianapolis on September 29, 2018.

I have included some information below. Visit the website to register and for more information.

https://indianahistory.org/events/annual...olloquium/

I plan to attend and hope to see some of you there!

Program information from the website:
“Explore how America mourned for its first assassinated president. The 16th president’s assassination left the country in a state of shock and mourning. Lincoln’s 1,700-mile funeral procession, via train, was attended by an estimated 8 million Americans. Delve into the legacy of death, funerary customs and mourning during this era.
$50; $40 members; $15 students; $55 at the door. Lunch is included in ticket price.

PRESENTATIONS INCLUDE
• Abraham Lincoln’s Body presented by Dr. Richard W. Fox (University of Southern California and author of Lincoln’s Body) exploring how the funeral train kept the memory of Lincoln as a person, a leader and an orator alive
• The Country Reacts: A Moderated Discussion around how Indiana responded to Lincoln’s assassination, with Dr. A. James Fuller (University of Indianapolis and author of Oliver P. Morton and the Politics of the Civil War and Reconstruction), Dr. Nicole Etcheson (Ball State University and author of A Generation at War: The Civil War Era in a Northern Community) and moderated by William E. Bartelt (IHS Trustee and author of There I Grew Up: Remembering Abraham Lincoln’s Indiana Youth)
• Break-out Sessions include an up-close experience with Indiana Historical Society collections or walking tour of Indianapolis during the Lincoln Funeral Train.
• Funerary Customs in Lincoln’s Era, a special concluding session at the Indiana State Museum with chief curator Dr. Susannah Koerber, looking at how the country mourned through Lincoln-related objects.”
