In this youtube video, there is a photo of Tad Lincoln I have never seen before. It is about 22 seconds into the video.

That photo is on p. 305 of Lloyd Ostendorf's Lincoln's Photographs: A Complete Album. The caption says it's an ambrotype taken in 1855 or 1856.

I would like to know why the creator of the video thinks Tad's name was "Thomas Daniel." Has anyone seen that mistake anywhere else?

I just this minute watched that video and thought the same thing about where they came up with "Daniel" as a middle name. I never thought Tad had a middle name.

I was recently on the Mr. Lincoln's White House website looking for something else and saw a photo of Tad that I had never seen. It's a cameo (chest up) shot of him with a slouch hat on his head. I would guess his age to be about ten??

Laurie, I know the photo you mean. It's not in Ostendorf's book, and I never have been able to research it. I do not think it's in the Lincoln Family Album, either. I agree - he looks about 10 in the photo.

There's something about that photo that makes me wonder if Henry F. Warren took it?

I'm with Laurie -- wasn't Tad's full name simply "Thomas Lincoln?"

Yes, Tad's full name was Thomas Lincoln - named after AL's father who also did not have a middle name. I'm just wondering why "Daniel" appears in this video. Even though it is a mistake, I have not seen it elsewhere.
