I just received word from friends in the Lincoln field that one of the most controversial figures in the study of Abraham Lincoln died in Chicago this week -- author Lerone Bennett.

His passing comes 50 years after the publication of his article "Was Abe Lincoln a White Supremacist?" in the February 1968 issue of Ebony Magazine.
