Mary Todd Lincoln's Courting Cake
I just came across a great recipe for a Valentine's Cake and it is said that it was one of Mary Todd's favorites. Do any of you have that recipe and have you ever heard of it. The picture shows it in the shape of a heart sprinkled with blanched, finely chopped almonds. The cake calls for a cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar, 3 cups of flour, 3tsp of baking powder, 1 cup of milk, 6 egg whites, 1tsp vanilla or almond extract, confectionary sugar It looks delicious!SmileHeart

RE: Mary Todd Lincoln's Courting Cake
Do I vaguely recall that Anita made this cake a few years back for a special event?

RE: Mary Todd Lincoln's Courting Cake
I have eaten that cake at more events, and more times, than I care to remember. The recipe above is for the Vanilla Almond Cake. There is also a cake called "Mary Lincoln's Courting Cake." They are not the same recipe.
